I agree with the author of this article. We are completely missing out on the beauty of the internet. From a designer standpoint sometimes all the beauty-things get in the way of great web design. Also, you are completely right in talking about being able to find missing children. Honestly, everyone gets so caught up in the negative and forgets about the positive.

Peggy....
You don't have to be so untrusting but you should always be sure to check the credentials of any website before you give them any information. Check their security software and the security that they are running. This is crucial. I also was stuck in the world of "never paying online for items" and then one day I came to realize that I couldn't get past it. The internet is taking over...just one more way to go green..

I have a teenage daughter who wants to buy things on the Internet all the time. I never let her. Call me old school but I always try to make sure any buying happens from my pocket. I don't want to be one of the sorry suckers who is giving their identify out on the internet and ends up finding that their personal information has been stolen.

Being a business owner myself this article really hit close to home. As a business owner you always know there is danger of the disgruntled or fired employee to come back and haunt you, but I never even thought about the laptops being stolen. If everyone is working on laptops what sort of security measures could be taken to decrease the risk if a laptop were ever stolen from an employee? Any ideas?

This is why I ALWAYS make sure my passwords are long in length and very complex! I will mix together numbers and letters and if the website allows for it I will mix in symbols!

I agree Leslie! I sometimes click on the advertisements because they do strike an interest in me. This is only because they are tailored to my interests, but most of the time I am like, "Where are they getting this information!? It needs to stop!"

I just did everything this article stated and my Facebook page is completely invisible. This is great because I was wondering how to hide myself from potential employers. I always get so scared when I'm applying for jobs that my future boss my find one or two pictures of me drinking and suddenly I won't be in the YES pile anymore.

We would like to thank you once more for the wonderful ideas you gave Janet when preparing her post-graduate research and also, most importantly, pertaining to providing each of the ideas in a blog post. In case we had known of your website a year ago, we would have been saved the nonessential measures we were employing. Thank you very much.

I was wondering how to turn this off. I hate how advertisers are storing all of my information by the things I am searching for on the internet just so they can cater ads to me later. I don't always need someone trying to sell me something!
